We unveiled the welcome figure, “Salmon Woman Welcomes Salmon Home,” today! The two-and-a-half-metre traditional Coast Salish welcome figure will welcome students, employees and other members of the community arriving on the Coquitlam Campus.
We are unveiling the welcome figure, “Salmon Woman Welcomes Salmon Home,” Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 11am at the Coquitlam Campus. The figure stands on the southeast lawn, near the flagpoles. Please join us in celebrating this event.
The College will be closed Thursday, Sept. 30, for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This day honours the lost children and survivors of residential schools, their families and communities. In the spirit of reconciliation, Douglas College encourages everyone to take this day as an opportunity to learn more about Canada’s Indigenous history, and to explore ways in which you can personally contribute to truth and reconciliation. The Canadian and B.C. flags will be flying at half-mast for this occasion.
We are so excited that our campuses are now open to you and the public. Whether it’s your first time or you’ve been here before, welcome! Many services and resources for you, including the library, food services, advising, counselling and more, are available in person once again.

I didn’t even know that you could get a job as a student assistant with many of the service departments. After going through Strong Start, I wanted to be as involved as possible in college life.”
