The Student Leadership Awards recognizes students and employees who have made outstanding contributions to student engagement. Do you know a student or employee who has made a positive impact within Douglas College and the community at large? Nominate them for the Student Leadership Awards! Nominations close Feb. 17 at 5pm.
“My job title is deceiving. I’m a lab tech, but my priority isn’t the lab. It’s the students using it. We have the equipment – computers, data, maps – they need to complete their lab assignments, and I’m there to assist and guide them. I make sure everyone’s happy, the equipment’s working, and the space is safe and all-inclusive.”
“Every semester, we would gather for training sessions, and I would have to speak in front of 50 to 60 mentors. At first it was nerve-wracking, but I slowly got used to it, and now it’s much easier for me to speak in front of others.”
2022 is nearly at an end, and holiday season joy is spreading throughout the Douglas College community. The College will be closed to the public Dec. 24–Jan. 3. We wish everyone a happy, safe holiday season!

Today is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women. We fly our flags at half-mast in memory of the 14 women murdered in the École Polytechnique massacre of 1989, and in solidarity with the survivors who were injured and traumatized in the attack.
