Office 365 will replace myDouglas

From September 2016, all Douglas College registered students will have free access to Microsoft Office 365 software in the Canadian cloud. This service will provide you with Word, PowerPoint, OneNote, Excel, 1 Terabyte of OneDrive space and a new College email account. As this solution meets the public-sector privacy laws in B.C., it will allow us to begin phasing out myDouglas email services.

If you’ve registered for the fall of 2016, you’ll be part of a transition period, so you’ll have two email accounts: myDouglas and Office 365. During this period, we’ll be ensuring that any mailing that currently goes to myDouglas accounts are being redirected or moved to Office 365.

To keep the messages you currently have in your myDouglas account, forward them to Office 365 or other personal email. The College won’t be moving the old myDouglas email messages to Office 365.

Office 365 accounts are created when you register for your first class, so it’s a slight change from the process for creating myDouglas account. Blackboard email accounts will be switched over to Office 365 as of September 1.

Details about your Office account will be sent to you in the next few days. An important change relates to usernames. Instead of using your student number, the format will be last name + first name initial + number @student.douglascollege.ca. Your password is the same one used to connect to the wired and wireless networks.

To log in to Office 365, go to www.douglascollege.ca, hover over the Login drop-down menu and select Office 365. You can also go to the direct link: portal.office.com. myDouglas email will be active until 2017, when all students will be expected to have transitioned to the new Office email.

If you have any questions, please contact the CEIT Help Desk at helpdesk@douglascollege.ca or 604 527 5330.
