Douglas College to roll out new recycling program
Douglas College is on track to become an even greener campus.
Both the New Westminster and Coquitlam campuses will introduce paper towel recycling to washrooms for the Summer 2016 semester. With the new program, students are asked to dispose of paper towels in the marked recycling bins that will be located in the washroom, instead of throwing them in the garbage.
“We’re always looking for ways to make improvements to the College,” Facilities Manager Andrew Hodgson explained. “Through a few simple adjustments, we can reduce the impact our College has on the environment.”
The initiative is the first step in a broader project that will roll out in the coming months and will introduce a four-stream recycling system to the College that includes mixed waste, organics, paper and garbage.
