Douglas College Dispensing Optician grad a rising star in his industry

Thanks to the Dispensing Optician diploma program, Scott Kling is now a rising star in a company that’s been called one of the world’s most innovative by Forbes magazine.

Scott, who graduated in 2004, was recently promoted to the role of senior sales consultant at Essilor Canada, a corrective lens provider that does business around the world.

Over the past decade, Scott has worked his way up the ranks at the company. He started as a customer service representative and has since received several promotions.

He’s found a job he loves at a company he’s proud to work for.

“The constant innovation at Essilor Canada is always mentally stimulating and I love the challenge and reward associated with introducing innovations to the industry, strengthening the market and the consumer satisfaction. I also cherish each interaction and relationship that I have developed with my customers and partners,” he says.

As a senior sales consultant, his work involves developing and maintaining business relationships and helping the company grow. But he also spends much of his time mentoring, coaching and supporting his fellow sales representatives.

Scott chose the program because he wanted to find a career with stable hours and solid employment opportunities. He also grew up in Coquitlam and says studying at the campus there was a perfect fit.

“The caliber of content provided in the Dispensing Optician program is among the best I have encountered. The instructors were so kind, genuine and enthusiastic about the field that it rubbed off on me and propelled me and inspired me to pursue a long-term career in the field of optics,” he says.

“I also am very proud to say that I enrolled in the first year over 12 years ago and I still have very close ties with the college and the instructors and dispensary staff.”
